Our tutors are happy to have students with a wide range of painting experience. We have many beginners who come here, along with people with degrees in fine art. Because the groups are small, informal and with an open atmosphere, everyone can benefit.
We supply a materials list for guidance about what to bring. If you are on a structured course you may well be asked to bring specific materials for exercises during the week. Otherwise the materials list act as guidance with suggestions on the sorts of colours you will need to paint in this particular light and landscape.
Numbers vary from 8 to 14 students. We restrict the Painting in the Luberon course to 8 students for ease of transportation.
The price is fully inclusive. You just have to provide your own art materials.
You need to be reasonably able-bodied for getting about in the villages, which can be hilly. Students with special problems can, however be helped by being dropped off at convienient places but you might not get as much out of the week if this is the case.
We can cater for special dietary needs. When you book and when you arrive it is prudent to remind us of your special case.
Yes, you can phone home from the house. We ask students to time themselves and then pay a per minute rate. We can receive faxes on student's behalf, but not emails unless in an emergency.
There are no shops or cafes in Les Bassacs. The nearest shops and cafes are 5 minutes by car. During your stay, however, there are plenty of opportunities to shop and sit in cafes on trips out to local villages for painting.
On Sunday mornings there is a trip to a local market at L'Isle sur la Sorgue which is not a painting trip. The group will normally go out at least once a day for painting in the landscape and the nearby villages. Saturdays are for arrivals and departures.
