Painting with John Raynes
22nd~29th May 2010
A popular and sympathetic tutor, John’s skill as a sensitive draughtsman and painter give his student’s the opportunity to learn by example as well as by experimentation.
When teaching, his primary aim is to try to discover each student's visual likes, dislikes and ability and then, from this standpoint, to offer practical suggestions about how to achieve the best solution.
He is always happy to make marks to support his comments and demonstrate a point. Landscape painting is the core of the course and students can work in their chosen media.
John Raynes studied painting at St Albans School of Art and The Royal College of Art. Since then, he has combined painting with teaching in Art schools and running a very successful illustration practice. He has exhibited in many shows in Britain, France, Dubai and Portugal. He is represented by the Royal Society of Portrait Painters at the Mall Galleries, London. John has written numerous art instruction books including; ‘The Complete Guide to Perspective’ and ‘Complete Anatomy and Figure Drawing’.
